Hole by Hole
Hole 1
Par 4, 391 yards, stroke 12
A straight drive is required,
with a deceptively long second shot to a two
tiered green. The green is protected with a
small copse of Hawthorne trees to the left and a
deep bunker to the right.
Pro’s tip- Keep your drive to the right side of
the fairway, which will open up the green.
Hole 2
Par 5, 476 yards, stroke 7
There is the South Downs Way
running along the left-hand side of this hole,
with Hawthorne and thick rough grass. The
fairway slopes away to the right and down into
trees and thick undergrowth. This hole is a
fairly easy par 5 for the long hitters providing
you can keep the ball on the fairway. Large
green protected left and right with bunkers.
Pro’s tip- Play to the left side of fairway all
the way along this hole.
Hole 3

Par 4, 387 yards, stroke 5
Plenty of room on the left hand
side of the hole, scrubland and out of bounds on
the right. This is a deceptive hole if the
prevailing wind is strong, then you need a
driver plus a three wood to get anywhere near
the green. Approaching the green from the
left-hand side of the fairway is best. The green
is long and narrow and cut into the bank, with a
bunker above the green and steps up from the
lower side.
Pro’s tip- You must play your shot to the green
from left side of fairway.
Hole 4
Par 4, 362 yards, stroke 15
Sandwiched between the 3rd
and 5th fairways the 4th
hole is straight, with all the ground sloping
away to the right hand side. Bunkers are
situated on the left and right hand side of the
green. This is one of the most difficult second
approach shots to any of our greens, trying to
keep the ball on the correct level of a two
tiered green can be extremely testing.
Pro’s tip- Straight hole. Very little trouble,
but observe where the flag is when walking down
3rd fairway.
Hole 5
Par 4, 284 yards, stroke 17
This is an easy par 4, straight
down the slope. Club section is important. There
is a bunker on the right and left-hand side.
Look for a birdie at this hole.
Pro’s tip- Every shot funnels down to the green.
Great chance for birdie.
Hole 6

Par 4, 425 yards, stroke 4
This is a deceptively long hole
sloping downhill and against the prevailing wind
can be difficult to reach in two. Land your
second shot short and allow it to run onto the
green which is protected by a bunker on the
left.
Pro’s tip – Make sure you are on the green with
your second shot.
Hole 7

Par 5, 582 yards, stroke 1
This is a monster of a hole;
needing three good shots to get anywhere near
the green. All down the right hand side is out
of bounds, with the left-hand side being trees
and undergrowth. Keep the drive left of centre
and away from the wall that protrudes from the
farmland. The second shot should also be kept
left as all the fairway slopes away to the
right. Your third shot should be a medium iron
to a small green cut into the bank.
Pro’s tip- Take care with your second shot. If
you feel you can’t get over the road lay up at
the top of hill for an easier shot to the green.
Hole 8
Par 3, 199 yards, stroke 13
The back tee is elevated looking
across a valley to a raised green within a bowl.
Deceptively long this hole often needs a driver
to reach the green. From the yellow tees the
hole is uphill and much shorter but not much
easier, the main thing here is to take enough
club enabling you to reach the green. Any ball
short is likely to run down into a bunker.
Pro’s tip- Always use more club than you think.
Hole 9
Par 4, 358 yards, stroke 9
Straight up the hill with out of
bounds along the right hand side and scrubland
on the left-hand side. Allow an extra club for
the second up hill shot to reach a flat green,
there are green side bunkers on the left and
right waiting to catch
you.
Pro’s tip - Keep drive left side
Hole 10

Par 5, 521 yards, stroke 11
Keep the ball straight and long
and this can be a birdie hole, mind the dewpond
on the right hand side.
Pro’s tip- Two problems not visible. Drive
dewpond on right. Shot to green, out of bounds
left side of green.
Hole 11
Par 4, 432
yards, stroke 2
This is a very difficult hole,
you have to drive long over the Green Keepers
sheds and then a long second shot to the green,
keeping the ball left of centre as everything
runs away to the right hand side.
Pro’s tip - Drive as far as you can. Keep shot
to green up left.
Hole 12

Par 3, 186 yards, stroke 16
A very deceptive down hill par 3, club selection
is important and depending on the wind direction
can be anything from a wedge to a three wood. If
you are brave you can pitch the green and the
ball will stop.
Pro’s tip – If you are broke pitch the green.
Hole 13
Par 4, 386 yards, stroke 8
Straight drive required with a
difficult second shot to the green. Unless you
can pitch the green, try to keep the ball above
and to the right, yet still missing the bunker
and let it roll down onto the green.
Pro’s tip - You must hit your drive to the right
side of fairway
Hole 14
Par 3, 168 yards, stroke 14
Straight forward par 3, until you
get on the green, this green is very undulating
with lots of hidden borrows.
Pro’s tip - Take a lot of care on this green.
Hole 15
Par 4, 397 yards, stroke 3
Slight dogleg to the right, keep
the drive over the marker, and missing the pit
on the right side of the fairway. The green is
guarded by a bunker on the right hand side, and
is the largest green on the course.
Pro’s tip - If you can fade drive – perfect.
Take 1 club more for your approach.
Hole 16
Par 4, 293, stroke 18
Look for a birdie on this hole,
which can be driven if conditions are right.
Slightly down hill and with a pit on the right
hand side, it is very easy to over shoot the
green.
Pro’s tip - Go for the birdie.
Hole 17
Par 4, 414 yards, stroke 6
Two good shots are required to
get on the green for two. There are two fairway
bunkers and two green side bunkers waiting to
catch a wayward ball.
Pro’s tip -Straight drive required. Take care
with your yardage for approach.
Hole 18
Par 4, 358
yards, stroke 10
Keep the ball just left of centre
as it makes for a better approach shot into the
green. The South Downs Way runs alongside this
fairway. This is a right to left bias on the
green, which is protected by two greenside
bunkers.
Pro’s tip - Keep drive left so your approach is
up the green for any hole location.
